Samford University is a Christian private university located in Homewood, Alabama. Baptists founded the university as Howard College in 1841. Samford University claims to be the 87th oldest higher education institution in the United States.


It is one of the top private universities in the country and has a long history of academic excellence. The university also boasts an impressive array of student activities, clubs, and organizations. The university has 5,683 students from 47 states, two US territories, and 19 countries.


Academic

Samford University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs and 170 undergraduate majors, minors, and concentrations.

The Samford Bulldogs compete in many sports in the NCAA Division I Southern Conference. The university also has a wide range of club and intramural sports, fitness centers, and recreational facilities.


Baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track and field are examples of men's sports. Women's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball.
